Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Preparing or developing products such as exhibits/displays, brochures, web designs, illustrations, etc; 2) Researching support materials and methods to determine what must be created and identify resources for optimal delivery; and 3) Preparing print-ready art to include size requirements, line work, and color specification codes.

GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Select visual materials such as photographs, illustrations, and typography to be used in the development of communication of materials; 2) Use of computer graphics systems (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, and other industry standard graphic programs) to create hard copy and electronic products; 3) Develop visual aids that translate thoughts and ideas into communication materials (i.e., printed publications, exhibit, or oral presentations); and 4) Meeting with requestor to gather information about expectations and requirements, produce mockups, build design, present and refine work, and deliver design.

Recent graduates must be appointed within two years of being awarded a bachelor's or graduate degree from a qualifying educational institution as defined in 20 U.S.C. ยง 1001. The two-year period of eligibility will be extended to four years for veterans who have completed a period of obligated uniformed service of more than four years and were awarded a degree by an institution of higher education not more than four years before the date of appointment. The four- year uniformed service requirement need not be continuous. If the veteran did not complete more than four years of uniformed service, the two-year eligibility period applies. Transcripts must be submitted to be considered for this position. Degree audits are not an acceptable substitute for transcripts.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-09:
1 full year of graduate level education

OR

superior academic achievement

GS-07:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related

This announcement uses the Recent Graduates direct hire authority direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
