Duties

Help
  • Develops and implements project management plans to manage scope, schedule, budget and cost. Negotiates commitments with project stakeholders related to project plans.
  • [CONT'D] Identifies key tasks, milestones, team skillsets and level of effort needed to complete project objectives. Ensures integrity of project management data in SSA’s standard project management tools.
  • Develops and administers project communication plans, ensuring regular and consistent communication with project stakeholders across lifecycle phases.
  • [CONT'D] Develops and delivers presentations or briefings on all aspects of the project, including phase, milestones and/or final project reviews.
  • Leads coordination, facilitates progress and integrates tasks and activities across the project lifecycle.
  • [CONT'D] Manages tracking of project progress and approves project status reports using standard SSA project management tools to promote project data transparency.
  • Identifies standards or requirements for change management and participates in project change control activities.
  • [CONT'D] Ensures that systematic changes to the project scope, schedule and cost are controlled according to System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) procedures.

To qualify for the 2210 IT Specialist series, applicants must demonstrate the following competencies: must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

Oral Communication - Express information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); make clear and convincing oral presentations; listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Problem Solving - Identify problems; determine accuracy and relevance of information; use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition, applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such IT-related experience must include work that involved:
  • Planning, analysis, requirements, testing, and validation in support of current, new and redesigned systems software
AND
  • Proficient in coordinating and managing work efforts within a team environment.

NONCOMPETITIVE CONSIDERATION DUE TO SPECIAL HIRING AUTHORITY

This is a non-bargaining unit position to be filled under the provisions of the Management Officials Promotion Plan. LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay.

This position is eligible for telework.

Relocation expenses will not be paid.

This is a high risk public trust position. The selected employee will be required to complete a Standard Form 85P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions, in order to have the appropriate investigation conducted, unless the employee has been previously certified eligible to occupy a position at this level.
