Duties

Help

  • Serves as a Grants Management Specialist (Tribal Justice) serving as an expert and authority in tribal justice program areas.
  • Acts as a technical authority in managing diverse and complex criminal justice programs, strategies, and related grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts.
  • Provides expert advice and guidance on resolving, implementing, or managing complex program issues in tribal justice areas.
  • Addresses complex criminal justice and tribal matters, offering expert advice on the administration of grants and cooperative agreements.
  • Prepares reports and other documents addressing complex issues within major criminal and tribal justice programs.
  • Represents BJA on interagency task forces focused on criminal and tribal justice programs, which may include senior DOJ officials and other executive branch representatives

Qualifications

Selective Placement factor.

  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing tribal court system and tribal violent crime strategies and capacity building efforts.

Specialized Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Examples of specialized experience include:

  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing jurisdiction-wide, multi-million-dollar tribal court, tribal violent crime or related federal or state and tribal intergovernmental court/prosecution strategies.
  • Provide training and technical assistance for developing, implementing, and managing jurisdiction-wide, multi-million-dollar tribal court, tribal violent crime or related federal or state and tribal intergovernmental court/prosecution
  • Specialized experience with complex capacity building efforts around public safety, barriers to accessing justice, and strategic planning.


Technical Qualifications:
Applicants who meet the basic entry and minimum qualification requirements, as described above, will be further evaluated on the following technical qualifications:

  • Critical thinking: Able to decipher, analyze, and reconstruct data to develop clear and easily identifiable topics for action or discussion.
  • Knowledge of criminal and tribal justice policy: Has a strong knowledge base of Criminal and Tribal Justice policy and uses to develop goals, accomplish tasks within parameters of requirements. Uses knowledge to promote discussion, provide guidance, and support decisions of management and executive level leadership.
  • Oral Communication: Expresses ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively; makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others; facilitates an open exchange of ideas.
  • Project management: Applies principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring, evaluating, and managing projects and resources, including technical performance.
  • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience.
