Help
  • Manage natural resource programs to meet mission requirements while protecting the environment and assuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement written plans, policies, and procedures according to laws, regulations, military mission requirements, science based data/methods, and generally accepted principles for natural or cultural resource management.
  • Provide oversight in planning, coordinating, developing, and receipt of deliverables for agreements to complete work on the installation for natural, cultural, or related programs.
  • Ensure task deliverables for agreements are timely, accurate, and to standard.
  • Prepare an Annual Work Plan, tracking all expenditures and making revisions as required and make biannual revisions and updates to higher headquarters environmental budget report.
  • Use web based tools/programs to input information for data calls, funding requests, personnel or asset management actions or similar, according to established business practices.
  • Perform supervisory duties; sign time and attendance, approve leave, guide employees, manage performance, resolve differences, and complete hiring actions..

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 05 % of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Supervisory Natural Resources Management Specialist:

A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

OR

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience: 1.) Demonstrating a comprehensive knowledge of environmental and/or natural resources concepts, principles, and practices in order to provide advisory, planning, and reviewing services regarding the impact of changes to the installation mission and programs. 2.) Developing a budget for assigned program areas to send for higher level review. 3.) Managing contracts for natural or cultural resources support. 4.) Overseeing personnel and work priorities to achieve organizational objectives. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
