This is a Title 32 excepted service position. This job announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies for additional positions vacated during the job bid process. IAW UTNGR 690-12 dated 19 APR 2018 and LIUNA-UTARNG CBA dated 11 NOV 2018, Priority will be given to all current, onboard employees of the UTNG.

Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list

As a Artillery Repairer (TEMP) (TITLE 32), WG-6605-10, you will:

  • Performs maintenance on the electrical system of the turrets.
  • Repairs the stabilization control systems, circuit breakers, distribution boxes, cables, and wiring system, points and all other electrical components in the turret.
  • Replaces Line Replaceable Units (LRUs).
  • Tests and repairs electrical test sets that are used to test the electrical systems of the tank turret.
  • Follows schematic diagrams and relays to determine if there is malfunction in the test equipment.
  • Repairs the hydraulic system, which provides the pressure to elevate and traverse the gun and rotate the turret.
  • Repairs hydraulic valves which control the motion to ensure safety, these are controlled by electrical solenoids.
  • Repairs the hydraulic motors, the elevating systems, the recoil systems and all other hydraulic parts and components in the turret.
  • Repairs all mechanical parts involved in turret traversing, such as the traversing gearbox including the clutch assembly, and turret races including cupola bearings.
  • Repairs the gears and bearings in the gearbox.
  • Repairs all small gear drive components including those required to raise and lower the gun.
  • Services the gun by exercising the recoil system to check for leaks in the seals.
  • Borescopes the gun tube to check for wear.
  • Makes recoil adapter readings to determine that the adapter and collar are serviceable.
  • Tests and repairs electrical test sets that are used to test the electrical systems of the tank turret.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:

Compatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.   • National Guard Membership is required.

  • Medical screening will be completed upon selection for hire.
  • Soldiers who accept a technician position may be terminated from the Bonus and Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to perform mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system operations. Experience demonstrating the ability to fit and adjust parts and assemblies.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have experience demonstrating a broad knowledge in repairing, rebuilding, modifying and testing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and major components of artillery systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and determining needed repairs in artillery systems. Experience demonstrating the ability to inspect artillery systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to develop test standards. Experience interpreting and applying drawings, schematics, blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
