Serves as a fully trained member of a firefighting crew engaged in the protection of life and property.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) responding to alarms and combats fires utilizing knowledge of the proper firefighting and rescue techniques; 2) operating alarm room equipment (e.g., multi-channel radio console, computer systems, telephone systems, recording systems, etc.) and fire reporting devices; 3) containing and controlling toxic, hazardous and/or dangerous materials; and 4) performing inspections for fire hazards in areas such as, quarters, administrative buildings, barracks, warehouses, industrial shops, places of public assembly, and outside storage areas. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
