Summary

About the Position: Provides a full range of direct pediatric physical therapy procedures, diagnostics, and treatment services for the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) in the neonatal intensive care unit and in the outpatient clinic.

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Work will be located in an outpatient clinic setting and occasionally in inpatient settings, Monday-Friday 0730-1630 hours.

Duties

Help
  • Provide lower extremity orthotic interventions including evaluations, cast impressions for fabrication, fittings, and modifications.
  • Provide a full range of direct pediatric physical therapy procedures, diagnostics, and treatment services for the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) in the neonatal intensive care unit.
  • Evaluate referred clients for diagnosis, treatment planning and to determine current levels of function.
  • Utilize pediatric specialty techniques to manage clients, birth to 36 months, with complex mild to severe physical, developmental, neurologic, learning, and behavioral impairments.
  • Provide direct and skilled, clinic-based physical therapy interventions on an outpatient and inpatient basis.
  • Coordinate clients’ physical therapy schedule to ensure quality of care.
  • Analyze, refine programs and develop new approaches and programs within the specialty area and monitors evaluation and treatment practices.
  • Conduct multiple functional area assessments to include but limited to gross/fine motor skills, reflex maturation, gait and ambulation, muscle strength, joint range of motion, self-care skills and activities of daily living, visual/motor skills.

  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

Basic Requirements for Physical Therapist: A graduate (or higher level) degree that included a physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained, and completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. (YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS).

Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. (YOU MUST SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR LICENSE)

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0633 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes evaluating pediatric patients (birth to 36 months and up to 21 years of age) in a neonatal intensive care units, medical facilities, and/or clinics for diagnosis, treatment planning and to determine current level of functions; planning and administering physical therapy for pediatric patients who have severe or acute physical disabilities; and/or providing prognosis, intervention, and outcome assessment for pediatric patients within a Medical Network.


This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Education
