Duties

Help
  • Perform recurring or standardized budgetary transactions in an automated financial system. Assist with the tracking of obligations and expenditures throughout the budget execution phase.
  • Maintain budget documents and files, and complete training in order to be able to extract information from the automated system and process transactions.
  • Initiate appropriate personnel actions using the approved automated process. Maintain human resources files and complete training in order to be able to initiate various actions in the automated personnel system.
  • Provide assistance on procedural human resources matters and resolve a variety of recurring procedural issues and actions.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of a building or facility. Perform routine/simple inspections, tests, and/or preventative maintenance on office equipment, security systems, etc.
  • Assist property management officials and/or property specialists to ensure accuracy of ownership and custody of all personal property.
  • Oversee the receipt, distribution, and disposition of system-controlled personal property, utilizing an automated property management database.
  • Track and inventory locally managed property as requested by management.
  • Serve as collections officer. Prepare appropriate receipts, records, and tracking forms. Deposit monies in strict accordance with Department of Treasury instructions.
  • Reconcile accounts receivable, aging analysis reports, and suspense and unearned accounts. Transfer funds from one account to another by initiating journal vouchers or other transfer instruments.
  • Process refunds and track the status of trespass register and contributed funds.

Qualifications

For GS-05: You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples:

  • Working the counter at a business.
  • Work as a secretary.
  • Work in collections, filing, records, billing, timekeeping or payroll.

Education: 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the prerequisite

An equivalent combination of experience and education as described above

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Demands: The work is typically sedentary. Some work may require periods of walking, standing, bending, or driving a motor vehicle. The incumbent may frequently lift relatively light boxes, materials, and supplies and/or carry file folders, copied materials, books, and other similar materials.

Work Environment: Work is typically located in an adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated office environment. The work environment may involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, mail distribution centers, meeting and training rooms, libraries, or motor vehicles.
