Summary

This position will be assigned to Joint Base Langley, VA .

This is a two-year developmental trainee program. The selectee will enter as an NF-03 with a salary range of $45K-$55K and upon successfully completing the first year, be promoted to an NF-04 with a salary range of $55K-$65K. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, the participant will outplace to an Air Force Installation as a Golf Course Manager.

This Services NAF Management Trainee (MT) career position is centrally funded by HQ AFSVC and centrally administered by the AF NAF Career Program. Incumbent is required to be career mobile and, as such, may be reassigned to any other position of equal rank, grade and pay for which the employee is qualified at any geographical location for reasons determined to be in the best interest of the Air Force. Incumbent may be subject to an uncommon tour of duty.

As a first year Services NAF MT, incumbent follows a training plan and spends time rotating through the functional activities of recreation, child development, financial management, marketing/publicity, HRO, procurement, bowling and club management. Work assignments include, but are not limited to, the areas and duties listed within this document and the training plan. Guidelines include established services procedures, Air Force manuals, instructions, directives, policies and procedures and requirements of the various services programs/activities. MT is given the opportunity to work in recreational and services activities to learn similarities and differences of category A, B and C operations. Performs tasks designed to provide practical understanding of the organization's programs, policies and objectives. Tasks develop trainee's analytical, judgmental, procedural, technical and operational skills. Assignments are of increasing difficulty and encompass a wide variety of tasks in accordance with the training plan. Assignments are designed to provide familiarity with and increase capability to perform a full range of journeyman-level duties and facilitate the work of higher-graded staff members within the organization. Assists in administrative duties. Assists experienced employees in performing routine tasks in support of services program objectives. Networks with other services APF and NAF MTs and program graduates. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • This position requires the incumbent to complete a Tier 1 background investigation with favorable results.
  • Incumbent must sign the Air Force Mobility Agreement with the expectation of an approximate 3 to 5 year change of assignment.
  • Based on the mobility agreement and meeting the needs of the Air Force. Must be willing to provide information that you are a U.S. citizen.

Qualifying Experience:
Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of golf as would be gained through a PGA certified golf management 4 year school. Skill in oral and written communication; ability to utilize and apply knowledge to plan and carry out business and/or recreational activities of a program segment that meets the needs of the community; and skill in effectively managing financial and physical resources within a program segment. Ability to deal effectively with employees, members and their guests within and outside the activity.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
