Duties

Help

  1. Works under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Manager to perform the full range of program support work for the Equipment Rental program; focusing on areas such as finance, scheduling, training, personnel, equipment, inventory, marketing, planning, projects, facilities, and program management.
  2. Responsible to the Outdoor Recreation Manager for the economic and efficient operation of the program. Develops and assists the manager in designing and executing a comprehensive program of activities, services, and/or events to meet the serviced population.
  3. Offers recommendations to improve, enhance, or develop new programs. Assists in planning and developing marketing and publicity program strategies. Supervises and assists rental personnel in equipment rental checkout, the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and service of equipment.
  4. Performs inspections of equipment of serviceability and preventative maintenance. Inspects worn or broken parts, determines parts serviceability of rental equipment meets mission criteria. Accomplishes after action reports to capture lesson learned, benchmarks, and need program improvements,
  5. Formulates, justifies, executes, and monitors NAF accounting transactions, budgets, and resources. Verifies that all transactions are properly reconciled, recorded and accounted for to provide for reliable financial and statistical reports, and to maintain accountability over assets.
  6. Assists in developing a 5-year financial plan. Maintains a filing system to include items such as continuity files, after action reports, and calendar for future reference. Accomplishes documentation in support of request for personnel action and awards nomination packages.
  7. Recruits, mentors, organizes, plans, and provides direction to lower level employees or volunteers. Supports and explains management programs to subordinates. Plans, establishes and schedules leave; sets performance standards; selects the most suitable applicants for vacancies, determines performance ratings and training needs.
  8. Prepares and recommends disciplinary actions and advises and counsels workers on how to improve their performance, and explains new work techniques. Investigates grievances and complaints; resolves them formally, notifying supervisors of those sufficient importance or seriousness.
  9. Assists with the operation of the equipment rental checkout counter, reservations for Rental Equipment and other reservations and counter operations as needed. Assists customers with unique requests or to resolve complaints.
  10. Instructs customers in proper operation and use of equipment e-., hookup of trailer equipment to towing vehicles, connecting lights, operating of stoves, safe use of powered equipment, camping equipment setup, etc.
  11. Ensures security of merchandise, equipment, and funds; and provides training on established procedures. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists patrons with equipment operation, maintenance, and care.
  12. Maintains a clean, neat and safe work area. Performs other related duties and assists other employees throughout the Outdoor Recreation activity as required by the supervisor.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience:
  • Applicant must have practical experience in developing, planning, organizing, and carrying out projects related to one or more outdoor recreation program that have prepared the individual for performing broader projects described in the duties and responsibilities.
  • Experience must include practical knowledge gained through relevant experience that enables the employee to completely and independently carry out a variety of continuing outdoor recreation operations.
  • In addition, must have practical experience and general knowledge of organizational principles and practices and ability to perform financial, program, facility, inventory, and personnel management.
  • Must have skill to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds and complete a pre-employment physical.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors. Must be able to satisfactorily complete installation and National Agency Records Check.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays
