Duties

Help
  • You will utilize network tools to monitor and support planning, installation, and delivery of communications assets within NCTAMPS PAC and FCO Hawaii area of operations.
  • You will be responsible for coordination/fault isolations and installation efforts of contract personnel, electronic installation personnel and commercial vendors as required.
  • You will conduct in-depth feasibility studies for planned telecommunications upgrades and installations at NCTAMS PAC.
  • You will provide technical solutions and resolve conflicts that arise with new systems and upgrades to equipment during installation of systems and subsequent upgrades.
  • You will apply operational solutions involving optical transport equipment, Unclassified but Sensitive Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network/Secret Internet Protocol Network {NIPERNET/SIPERNET} nodes.
  • You will coordinate circuit activations and deactivations and submit Authorized Service Interruptions (ASI) messages.
  • You will devise near real-time solutions while correlating, summarizing, and interpreting a variety of technical data resulting from the failure of system/network equipment problems.
  • You will coordinate telecommunications connectivity installations between stations and detachments across the globe covering all 24 time zones.

  • You must successfully complete a Counterintelligence (CI) polygraph with No Deception Indicated (NDI).
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • This is a Key Position as defined in OPNA VINST 12910.2. The incumbent must be removed from military recall status if alternatives for filling this position during mobilization or national emergency are not available.

Qualifications

Applicants must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly relates to the work of the position to be filled. Qualifying experience would be demonstrated by:

-Experience developing and maintaining technical and operational documentation to support hardware/software (installation, operation, change and removal) to include data entry into a database.
-Experience programming multiplexers, modems, and other ancillary communications equipment.
-Experience using configuration management methods and techniques for integrating information systems components sufficient to install and maintain network software/hardware, optimize functionality of systems, and diagnose and recover failed systems.
-Experience utilizing Ciena nodes, Optical Transport nodes, associated equipment operation, and maintenance.
