Summary

You will serve as a GG-0132-15 Supervisory Intelligence Specialist at the NIMITZ Warfare Analysis Center within the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, MD. As the Deputy Department Head of the Naval Warfare Department, you will oversee analysis and reporting of current intelligence and long-range research, supervise and lead teams, manage personnel resources, and build collaborative relationships and networks.

  • You will coordinate with the Department Head in the planning for, defending, allocating, and executing the department’s annual budget, to include contract and organization level programs.
  • You will communicate authoritatively, both orally and written, to include senior level communications and support.
  • You will fulfill the full breadth of first level line supervisor responsibilities, to include building and leading teams.
  • You will establish department priorities to reflect customer requirements, and allocate resources to balance priorities among naval staff and fleet customer needs while building collaborative relationships and networks.
  • You will work closely with the Department Head in leading the department’s mission and be responsible for overseeing analysis and reporting of current intelligence and long-term research.

  • This position may require a 2-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Some travel may be required (within/outside U.S.).
  • Must have access to Special Programs, as required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GG/GS-14 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, such as:

1. Lead the organization's mission by overseeing analysis and reporting of current intelligence and long-term research.
2. Plan for, defend, allocate, and execute the organization's annual budget, to include contract and organization level programs.
3. Communicate authoritatively, both orally and written, to include senior level communications and support.
4. Demonstrate the full breadth of first level line supervisor responsibilities, to include building and leading teams.
5. Establish priorities to reflect customer requirements and allocate resources to balance priorities among customer needs while building collaborative relationships and networks.

PPP applicants will be placed at the FPL, if determined Well Qualified (WQ). To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation.

This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.


The employee may be required to work overtime, including nights and weekends, and shift work as real-world events or Navy activities (to include operations and exercises) require.

Incumbent may be required to serve as a member of a Crisis Response Team (CRT).

Must be able to be eligible for CAP/SAP/ACCM/Special Programs applicable to position.

The Naval Warfare Department (NWD) provides detailed analysis of the operational and tactical military abilities of potential adversaries. NWD provides this dedicated, Fleet-focused support via four functionally aligned divisions - SWORD (undersea warfare), SPEAR (air warfare), SABER (surface warfare), and SPECTRUM (cyber/electronic warfare/C4ISR).
