Summary

This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will assist the Joint Wargaming and Experimentation Division (JWED) Chief and Wargaming Branch Chief in directing and planning joint wargame and experimentation events to assess joint war fighting concepts and their ways and means.

Duties

Help

As a SCENARIO AND EXPERIMENTATION ANALYST at the GS-0301-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Work closely with Joint Concept authors and those responsible for Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) development in order to research and develop robust wargame events to include incorporation of current and future capabilities, doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures that emulate a realistic threat.
  • Manage the planning, leading or supporting of joint wargaming and experimentation events that require the establishment of design, planning, and development criteria through the analysis of concepts, problems or questions and adapting concept-based hypotheses into said events.
  • Lead the effort to prepare and present formal briefings, presentations and plans on scenarios and events to flag/general officers (GOFO)/Senior Executive Service (SES), and key military and civilian leadership on all matters pertaining to JWED wargames and experiments.
  • Spearheads the effort to plan all facilities, systems, participants, and other supporting requirements for joint wargames and other forums.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Applying past military operations, geopolitical situations, and foreign military operations to develop and conduct relevant/effective wargames;
  • Utilizes analysis, design, execution, methodology, planning, and theory to prepare execution of a wargame or experimentation event;
  • Develops, compiles, edits, and presents scenario products to participants;
  • Applies joint wargaming and concepts to research and develop operationally challenging scenarios;
  • Lead for significant planning events including facilities, systems, manning, plans, and all supporting requirements.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
