  • This position requires a Secret Security Clearance/Tier 3 Investigation.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License .
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain, maintain and retain a valid government vehicle operator's license.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination.
  • This position has heavy lifting requirements up to 50 lbs.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
  • Incumbent in the position may be required to work on Saturday and/or Sunday--is subject to shift rotation and emergency 24-hour recall, as determined by the Supervisor.
  • Testing Designated Position Subject to mandatory random drug testing.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements .
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Locksmith without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex duties as Locksmith. I am skilled in the full range locking devices and their component parts to include internal structure and operating characteristics of a wide variety of locking systems from various manufacturers. Conduct visual and operations tests to locate trouble and determine methods of opening and repairing malfunctioning devices. Use a variety of tools and works with total accuracy to preclude the destruction of expensive security systems or safes vaults. Read, interpret, apply technical manuals, manufacturer's diagrams/specifications, and able to prepare diagrams to identify dimensions or special parts requirements; knowledgeable of shop math to include fractions. Apply expert knowledge of locks and locksmithing procedures to serve as a consultant to management to design and install locks/locking systems to meet special security requirement. I have the ability and skill to significantly modify and adapt to locking mechanisms of uses not specifically designed; and to fabricate tools and parts from a variety of materials, using welding equipment, hand tools and power tools such as grinders, lathes, milling machines and drill presses. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort - Work assignments require standing, stooping, bending, kneeling for prolonged periods as well as working in cramped and awkward positions. Incumbent is required to lift items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Working Conditions - Work is normally performed in a well-lighted, heated and ventilated area. Occasionally work is done outside in inclement weather or in areas that are drafty and poorly lighted. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, and serious burns.
