Duties

Help

  • Responsible for performing journeyman class work in the electrical and hydro-operator trades.
  • Calibrates and tests generator relay protection equipment.
  • Participates in the revision and updating of standard operating procedures, operation manuals, and operating guidelines, for all new or modified equipment.
  • Operates control boards, exciters, disconnects, power circuit breakers, load and voltage control equipment, and signal systems in a power plant.
  • Operates large gates and valves to maintain proper river flows and for watering and unwatering penstocks, scroll cases and draft tubes.
  • Observes and checks power control equipment for proper sequence of operation and completeness of control.
  • Synchronizes units on the bus and operates transmission line breakers as directed by the Foreman, or as required to meet plant operational needs.
  • Operates high voltage switches and related devices in connection with their work and writes clearances under guidelines of the Bureau of Reclamation Hazardous Energy Control Program (HECP).
  • Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly reports on generation, river flow, outages, weather conditions, hourly indicating and integrating meter data, and other miscellaneous operating records to include the plant log book.
  • Responsible for the consolidated operation of all plant generating resources and voltage control. Responsible for plant inspections and water facilities, waterway inspections, Switchyard and dam operations.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.

Category rating and selection procedures will be used to evaluate applications from this announcement.
