Summary

This position is part of the Div of Performance and Accountability, Bureau of Indian Education. As a Program Support Assistant you will be responsible to serve as Program Support Assistant to the Supervisory Education Program Specialist, Division of Performance and Accountability (DPA), Supplemental Education Program to plan, implement, monitor, adjust, and evaluate to complete a variety of program and administrative support responsibilities.

Duties

Help

As a Program Support Assistant GS-0303-7/8/9, your typical work assignments may include the following under supervision:

  • Performs management and program support work such as planning, budgeting, research, analysis, correspondence control, communication, and/or liaison.
  • Provide expertise for procurement of goods, supplies, and services.
  • Perform work involving collection, compilation, and/or tracking data and statistical information in support of program operations.
  • Performs administrative work, which includes management of the schedule or day-to-day plans for Associate Deputy Director-Division of Performance and Accountability.
  • Manages and/or prepares responses to correspondence for Associate Deputy Director-Division of Performance and Accountability.
  • Assist with preparations for fiscal year operating budget.
  • Perform office automation duties using such software applications as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendar, spreadsheet, database, teams, and/or graphics.

Applicants must meet the qualification requirements contained in the OPM Standards. For this position, they are listed below.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

GS-7:
Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilitiesto successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position andequivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Perform program support work, such as record keeping, filing, unit planning and other related tasks; maintain automated system to track/monitor administrative activities including accounting, financial, human resources management, grants and contracts, procurement statistics, facilities management, information technology, education programs and operations.

GS-8:
Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Plan, accomplish, and/or manage special projects; prepare response to correspondence; handle communication with persons and/or groups within and outside as a liaison for administrative support; review planning needs of staff assigned to perform internal oversight of work for a Division; develop and/or revise administrative guides, FAQs, and internal processes such as files and records management, and other administrative activities; identify and recommend ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying, or improving administrative and clerical office procedures; ensure regulatory compliance for administrative work and assist in correcting problems that conflict with established guidelines and rules.

GS-9: Applicant must have one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service. Examples include: Perform technical work to support the operation of programs such as prepared purchase documents; consolidated annual funding estimates into a complete budget request; organized estimates by appropriation, object class, and line item; prepared required supporting documentation for expenditures such as employee travel, training, and office equipment and supplies; gathered and organized information for inquiries; resolved problems referred by others; interpreted reports/data to determine work to be done, the scope of the project, and deadlines for its completion; provided correspondence control and coordinated information and responses with staff; maintained office records, served as a liaison between agencies to resolve issues related to advisory/technical services of administrative support functions. Prepared documents using word processing software to create, format, modify and print documents electronically.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year (52 weeks) of service at the next lower grade level.

Education

This position does not have a positive education requirement at this grade level. Therefore, no transcripts are required.
