Duties

Help
  • Incumbent serves as the assistant to the Head Parachute Team Coach for the USMA Cadet Collegiate Parachute Team.
  • Serves as parachute instructor for Cadets using standardized training materials regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and/or United States Parachute Association (USPA).
  • Provides technical training on the methods and techniques for parachute packing, maintenance, and repair in accordance with governing regulations.
  • Evaluates parachutists' performance, provides feedback, and makes appropriate recommendations to supervisor. Certifies jump readiness, certification(s), and conducts recertification training IAW applicable FAA and USPA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an Army Drug Testing position; the incumbent must sign a DA Form 5019-R as a condition of employment and shall be subject to periodic and random urinalysis drug testing in accordance with AR 215-3 and EO 12564.
  • Must be able to continually stand, walk, stoop, reach, pull, push, and bend. Must be able to lift of move objects up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work an irregular schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and/or overtime in support of academic and cyclic training schedules.
  • Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors during different types of weather conditions ranging from hot and/or humid to extreme sub-freezing temperature.
  • Incumbent will also be exposed to high noise levels, chemicals, and high pressurized gases with explosive potential.
  • Must be able to perform instruction on board military and civilian aircraft during airborne operations up to altitudes of 15,000 feet mean sea level (MSL).
  • This position requires frequent travel for competitions, training, to locations on and off post.
  • Must possess and maintain a state issued driver's license.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Must maintain all required certifications.
  • Satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks IAW AR 215-3, para 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation and medical examination which may include a FAA Class 3 Flight Physical.

Qualifications

Three (3) years' experience instructing students in the proper use of equipment, principles, practices, and instruction of parachuting such as how to inspect and don chutes, perform on-ground and emergency in-air chute repair, and the proper assembly of all chute components.
AND
Must possess current FAA Master Rigger rating, Master Parachute Rigger, Accelerated Free Fall Instructor, and Evaluator certifications.

PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.

Pay-Band (NF or CY) Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.

Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.

Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
