Duties

Help
  • Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established workflow or job specialization and assure timely accomplishment of the workload.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting on registrar equipment and conducts preventive maintenance checks on enrollment workstation equipment.
  • Verify personal credentials, print visitor passes/badges, create and edit card holder records and run card and/or pass access reports.
  • Answer brief visitor questions, determine whether appropriate authorizations for access exists and provide assistance.
  • Perform security guard duties in accordance with appropriate regulations to detect and prevent theft, damage, accident, trespass, sabotage and espionage and to enforce the security regulations of the installation.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
  • In accordance with AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply.
  • Position is a drug testing-designated position and required pre-employment and random testing thereafter.
  • Shift work or a change in work shift may be necessary. Hours of work include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training.
  • Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard (DASG) uniform IAW AR 190-56, maintain a high state of appearance and hygiene.
  • Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
  • Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation’s overall security response capability.
  • The duties and training required require for the employee to carry and deploy a riot baton, carry a protective shield and employ non-lethal ammunitions if necessary.
  • This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer. Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.
  • Incumbent will be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and will be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing installation access control for pedestrians and vehicles; using physical access control point equipment to safeguard personnel, information, operations, and critical assets; and ensuring communications/electronics equipment is properly maintained. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
