Duties

Help

  • Develops a range of statistical products, questionnaires, reports, and presentations to communicate findings and support dissemination to diverse audiences.
  • Assists in conducting reviews and provides support for assignments of a less complex level than those handled by statisticians and mathematicians and determines the application of such data to various projects and initiatives.
  • Helps perform statistical verification, including reviewing program code and conducting text-to-table checks.

Qualifications

Pathways Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Be enrolled in a degree seeking program;
2. Be enrolled on one half (1/2) time basis;
3. Have a minimum 2.5 grade point average;
4. Attending an accredited education institution;
5. Provide transcripts with student name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking; and
6. Be enrolled for the next semester/quarter following the period of this vacancy.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify for this position at the GS-04 grade level, you must have completed at least 2 academic years of post-high school study or an associate's degree. The education must lead to a bachelor's degree in mathematics or statistics.

Undergraduate Credit Information: 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours is equal to 1 academic year above high school.

For Study at a Business or Technical School: 36 weeks of study (20+ classroom hours per week) is comparable to 1 academic year above high school.

  • This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building for some portion of each pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.

Schedule: Interns are eligible to work full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (16 to 32 hours per week).

NOTE: Upon graduation, the student intern MAY be converted without a break in service to a term (time-limited) or permanent position, with a higher promotion potential, provided they have completed all pathways intern program requirements, meet the OPM qualification standards for the position to which converted, and receive a favorable recommendation from the supervisor for conversion. There is no guarantee of a permanent position following this internship. Selectee is on a trial period while on a Pathways Internship appointment.
