Duties

Help

As a Supervisory Financial Management Analyst at the GS-0501-15 some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Develops policies and procedures for financial and business-related activities.
  • Provides recommendations to the J6 Director and Vice-Director regarding necessary reprogramming and execution changes as a result of higher-level action and/or emergent requirements and deficiencies.
  • Formulates positions and presents findings and recommendations to senior level management.
  • The incumbent examines and defines senior management's intent in regard to mission priorities as it pertains to planning, programming, budgeting and execution of J6 resources.
  • Incumbent directs all elements of business management for the JS J6 and secure/non-secure information technology efforts, including the implementation of new financial and acquisition management initiatives; ensuring these efforts and support activities are consistent with established policies, objectives, plans, schedules, and milestones.

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance/SCI Sensitive.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Financial Management Certification Level 3.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement, OGE-450, Executive Branch Personnel Confidential Financial Disclosure Report upon entering the position and annually, in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R
  • This is a designated drug testing position.
  • Travel from 1 - 5 nights per month or longer if necessary, CONUS and OCONUS. Member must be willing and able to travel on military and commercial aircraft, vessels and/or vehicles.
  • Member may sometimes be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-15, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service:

  • Developing a cogent plan delineating business/investment strategy for staff capability requirements and information technology support;
  • Formulating positions and presents findings and recommendations to senior level management;
  • Developing cost models to enable higher-level authorities to ascertain the cost of business;
  • Providing divisional level advisory services for resourcing, acquisition, and managers' Internal Control program efforts.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Selectee or incumbent must be able to obtain the appropriate certification level for their position. This is a Financial Management Level 3 Certified position. IAW Public Law 112-81 and DoD Policy the incumbent shall comply with the requirements of DoD FM Certification program within the allotted timeframe. Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
