Duties

Help
  • Plans, schedules, organizes, and implements outdoor activities for USAG Benelux.
  • Activities include but are not limited to cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, trips, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain climbing, and overnight recreational trips.
  • Coordinates with installation and host nation officials on programs and information related to outdoor recreation and required licenses. Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment.
  • Researches, plans and develops or enlarges outdoor recreation areas. Prepares standard operating procedures. May assist in the preparation and development of the annual operating budget and 5-year plan. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A probation period of one year may be required.
  • Possesses satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-13, to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Successfully complete a health screening. Immunizations required as a condition of employment for the health and safety of those in the facility.
  • This tour of duty requires rotating shiftwork, to include weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds (lbs).

Qualifications

Possess three (3) years of general recreation experience, demonstrated by applying the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of interests of the individuals or group.
Examples of experience include but are not limited to one or more of the following recreational activities: cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, trips, skeet shooting, parks, ranges, mountain-climbing and overnight recreational trips. Experience such as assisting in the planning and execution of an Outdoor Recreation program; or responsibility for a large segment of such a program; skill in planning, coordinating, and organizing Outdoor Recreation program activities; skill in effective management of financial and physical resources and budget preparation.
OR
Possess a bachelor's degree with a major study in one of the subjects listed below:

  • Outdoor recreation and parks recreation management
  • Youth recreation, public, urban or community recreation
  • Special population recreation.
OR
Possess a combination of experience and education of the above listed criteria.
Example: An associate's degree (with major course study of 26 credits in the studies as identified above) and five (5) years of general recreational work experience.

Pay-Band Allowances and Differentials
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Living Quarters Allowance (LQA) will not be paid for this position.
  • Post Allowance may be paid in accordance with the Department of States Standardized Regulations (DSSR).
