Duties

Help
  • At the GS-12 you will perform duties as they are assigned. Tasks require a greater level of supervision and direction.
  • At the GS-13 you will perform the below duties:
  • You will perform modeling and simulation, analyze results and formulate insights, conclusions and recommendations to inform studies and analysis.
  • You will participate in teams reviewing warfighting concepts, program capabilities, and capacities.
  • You will support the creating, design, implementation and understanding of structured modeling approaches to provide comprehensive and creative problem solving.
  • You will research study administration projects and products in the rigorous methods of scientific inquiry and analysis.
  • You will produce recommendations to plan, schedule and execute major projects relating to the mission areas.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require limited travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to work overtime.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

GS 13: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position listed above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting operations research and analytical studies in support of assigned programs and concepts for future systems. Specialized experience should include most or all of the following: 1) Preparing reports defining and evaluating problems and recommending solutions; 2) Applying methods of scientific inquiry and analysis to design, develop, and adapt mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods; 3) Performing validation and testing of models to ensure adequacy and reformulating models as necessary; 4) Utilizing software architecture, programming, database development and management techniques to design, develop, execute, test and review model improvements; 5) Collecting, presenting, analyzing and verifying data, techniques and methodologies associated with cost analysis/cost estimation of proposed projects.

GS 12: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position listed above, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties associated with conducting operations research and analytical studies in support of assigned programs and projects. Specialized experience should include some of the following: 1) Following prescribed methods of scientific inquiry and analysis; 2) Adhering to established operations, staffing and processing requirements and implementing improvement directives; 3) Proposing appropriate adjustments to projects; 4) Applying knowledge of modeling methodology and operations research tools; 5) Coordinating plans and scheduled execution of projects.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience
AT THE GS-12 LEVEL: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

There is no education substitution for specialized experience at the G-13 level.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.

Relocation expenses (i.e. PCS) or relocation incentives as described in 5 USC 5753 may be authorized in accordance with applicable travel regulations.
