Duties

Help

  • Initiates and conducts analytic studies involving broad and varied subject matters in the areas of space and missile defense.
  • Exercises technical responsibility for publishing reports relating to specific analysis accomplishment and for the exhaustive interpretation of these results.
  • Keeps abreast of developments in operations research, systems analysis and combat developments with particular emphasis on areas relevant to assigned responsibilities.

  • This position requires a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
  • The duties of this position require occasional temporary duty (TDY) travel.
  • Incumbent is required to submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, (5CFR Part 2634, Subpart I Confidential Financial Disclosure Reports) upon entering the position and annually.
  • This is a Critical Acquisition Position. Selectee must execute a written tenure agreement to remain in Federal service in the position for at least three years.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for ENGINEERING AND TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT Certification within 36 months of entrance on duty.
  • This position may require a probationary period.
  • This is a designated drug testing position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and specialized experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify for the NH03 level your resume must display one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level or equivalent pay band level in the Federal Service performing the following duties;
1. Analyzing complex studies involving broad and varied subject matters in the areas of space and missile defense;
2. Developing results from various space and missile defense investigations, models, or concepts utilizing mathematical modeling and/ simulations; AND
3. Applying operational research methods from various system analysis and performance simulations to ascertain the systems operability in tactical environments.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (NH02/ GS 12-13).

Education

Basic Education Requirement- Operations Research Analyst- 1515

A. I have a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
B. I have a bachelor's degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
