Duties

Help

As a Supply Techician within the Office of Management Services, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Operates forklift and follows safety procedures, adheres to quality safety guidelines for freight shipments.
  • Responsible for overseeing and participation in the shipping, receiving, and storage of government equipment for long term warehouse storage.
  • Coordinates e-waste recycle picks up for the warehouse.
  • Maintains warehouse inventory and tracks incoming and outgoing excess property for disposition screening.
  • Provides support to the property operations staff.
  • Gathers information for internal control excessing disposal procedures.
  • Prepares reports by analyzing and summarizing data.
  • Performs a wide range of technical tasks relating to record reconciliation and asset management.
  • Updates and upkeeps disposal logs and constantly adjusts records for accuracy.
  • Performs routine and regular follow up with customers to resolve inventory discrepancies by analyzing information and identifying solutions.
  • Runs incomplete asset report to identify all new acquisitions that requires inventory and CPO assignment.
  • Updates asset records and mails out memo and red property decals to property clerks for serial number and record completion.
  • Operates a government owned or leased vehicle as incident driver.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primary non-sedentary in a warehouse environment. While performing freight rate activities, the work will be primarily sedentary. May be required to work at a rapid pace for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries materials that weight up to 70 pounds and handle material over 70 pounds with the assistance of other workers or equipment. The work is primarily non-sedentary with extended periods of walking, using stairs, or elevators.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is performed in an office/warehouse/mailroom environment. Activities involve everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions when working in a warehouse and using forklifts, mail and office equipment, making deliveries, and operating vehicles. Care is taken in inspection of hazardous materials and the movement and transportation of the hazardous material. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The warehouse work area does not have air conditioning. May be exposed to weather conditions while in the transportation of delivering and picking up excess property, mail, and freight. Freight rate activities are performed in an office setting.

Are There Any Special Requirements For This Position?
  • You will be required to operate a government-owned or-leased vehicle in the performance of your official duties.   • You will be required to operate a forklift in the performance of your official duties. Applicants for this position must meet the following requirements: (1) possess proper forklift certification.
  • Taking and passing a pre-employment medical examination at Federal expense is required due to the physical demands of this job.
  • A background investigation will be required for this position. Continued employment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for termination.

Qualifications

Definitions:

EXPERIENCE: One year of work experience is twelve months working full-time (at least 35-40 hours per week). Part-time experience can be pro-rated (i.e., a year at 20 hours per week is credited as 6 months of experience). If your position consisted of mixed duties, experience credit is given for the percentage of time that you spent on qualifying duties (i.e., if you held a position for 2 years, full-time, consisting of 25% personnel work and 75% budget work, and then applied for a budget position you could calculate your experience as follows: 2 yrs = 24 months. 24 months x 75% [percentage of time spent on budget duties] = 18 months of qualifying experience.)

For GS-07:

Applicants must meet the following to qualify for the GS-07 level:

One year of specialized experience in or directly related to the position to be filled that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, the required specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service.

The specialized experience should encompass supply regulations, policies, procedures, excess property, storage management for long term, oversee warehouse inventory, and maintenance preventatives for warehouse equipment. Must have knowledge and ability to perform extensive and exhaustive searches for records reconciliation.

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
