Assist anesthesia providers with performing quality control checks and documenting them to comply with Joint Commission (JC) and Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB) guidelines.
Assist the anesthesia provider in the operating rooms during anesthesia induction and recovery from anesthesia by anticipating the needs of the anesthesia provider based upon real time changes in hemodynamic function.
Observe patient’s vitals and visual assessments for such changes in condition as labored breathing, depression, convulsions, hemorrhage, shock, and anxiety.
Remove dirty anesthesia equipment and replaces it with clean equipment in between anesthetic and surgical procedures.
Responsible for first-level maintenance on equipment such as oxygen analyzers, arterial pressure lines, electrode wires on EKG machines, and various other equipment.
Perform Sterilization and Sanitation Procedures.
Responsible for keeping the anesthesia supply and workroom, all operating rooms, and outside of operating rooms are areas neat and clean.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

Basic Requirement for Health Technician (Anesthesia):
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes sterilizing medical equipment and preparing or initiating intravenous fluids. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
