As the Area Administrative Assistant (AAA) for the Area Director Office, the incumbent performs, coordinates, and leads ad hoc teams in conducting a wide variety of special projects and studies of unusual, significant, and /or complex nonrecurring issues concerning all aspects of SSA program administration. Formulates appropriate plans for resolving issues; establishing priorities and target dates; and providing the necessary coordination, leadership and direction to assure that targets are met, incorporating SSA's goals in the AD's areas of responsibility. Additionally, the AAA serves as focal point for formulating area-wide policies within the context of budget restrictions, and AD's priorities, balancing programmatic and management concerns.

Qualifications
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Examples of specialized experience include the development, examination, investigation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for retirement, survivors, disability, or health insurance, or income maintenance; or managing or leading employees in the analysis, development, or review of claims for retirement, survivors, disability, or health insurance, or income maintenance; or SSA programmatic experience at the 105 journey level and experience that provided knowledge of at least one administrative specialty in a Social Security setting (e.g. personnel management, facilities management, financial management, automation, etc.).

There is no substitution of education at the GS-13 grade level.
