Duties

Help

This position is located within the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP), Office of Communications, Education, and Outreach (OCEO) in Washington, D.C. .

At the full performance level GG-15 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Seeking opportunities to publicize the ACHP's activities in mainstream and other media and maintain and build relationships and contacts with media outlets;
2. Determining communications needs and informing appropriate entities of ACHP policies, programs, services, activities, and plans;
3. Determining the content, design, and distribution of ACHP print and electronic material to convey the agency's brand;
4. Overseeing all public affairs and media efforts with responsibility for planning and executing said work to inform all audiences about the ACHP;
5. Strategizing with leadership to plan and direct national publicity campaigns;
6. Directing all ACHP award programs;
7. Overseeing the user experience, appearance, design, and content of all ACHP-managed Websites;
8. Providing all communication platforms with timely, relevant information about the ACHP; and
9. Supervising the staff of OCEO.

The ACHP has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.

Salary Information
GG-15: $163,964 - $191,900 per year.

First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the Specialized Experience for the series to which you are applying.

Specialized Experience
To qualify for the GG-15, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:

1. Professional level work regarding the planning, development, and execution of communications and outreach efforts to inform and educate diverse stakeholders about an entity's mission; and supervising staff engaged in such work.

The preliminary background check consists of a search of Office of Personnel Management and Department of Defense background investigation files and an FBI National Criminal History Fingerprint Check; it may take up to 3 weeks to complete. If selected for this position, you will be extended a tentative offer of employment pending a satisfactory background check. Current Federal employees or individuals with an existing completed background investigation may not be required to undergo another background check; these will be handled on a case-by-case basis in coordination with the Bureau security office.
