Duties

Help
  • Operate large, complex riding mowers with independently-controlled cutting decks, hydraulic dump system and/or power flow material collection system.
  • Trims grass and ivy with power edgers and uses backpack blowers and push blower vacuums to clean debris from sidewalks and parking lots.
  • Use a high-powered pressure washer for cleaning sidewalks, building exteriors, and other facilities.
  • Police buildings, grounds, and lake areas pick up trash and debris, pulls weeds, waters grass, and flower beds and rakes leaves.
  • Operate an All Material Transport to transport beauty bark, top soil, and other materials in and around the installation.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Tier 1, Non-Sensitive, Low Risk background is required throughout the appointment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laborer ~ without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to operate various types of mowing equipment such as push mowers or zero turn mowers. Perform preventative maintenance such as checking fluid level, tightening loose equipment and adjusting proper heights. Trim grass around building, sidewalks or other edges that cant be reached by mowers, then use blowers to do clean up. Clean up grounds, building, and sidewalks of trash, vegetation, prune trees and bushes removing limbs using an All Material Transport to remove the material. Have the ability to use tools such as mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, power washers and digging tools such as shovels to dig ditches. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Work requires considerable standing, walking, bending, stooping, and other awkward and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, moves, and carries items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and carries heavier items. Frequently pushes heavy equipment and other material.
  • Working Conditions: Works outside, exposed to hot and cold temperatures, bad weather, dirt, drafts, noise, grease, and fumes. Subject to minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, strains, insect bites and stings, and occasionally more serious injuries such as broken bones and severe cuts from flying debris or collisions. As required, uses safety equipment and clothing such as ear protectors, safety glasses, and shoes.
