Develops and fully administers a multi-modality comprehensive rehabilitation and treatment program designed to treat alcohol and drug abuse related problems.
Utilizes complex rehabilitation principles to conduct comprehensive substance abuse evaluations of eligible patients referred for consultation. Select
Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Select
Exercises supervisor authorities and responsibilities involving work assignment and review, as well as the administrative022164 and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised. Select
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination
Temporary duty travel (TDY) up to 5% required
This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Counseling Psychologist (Substance Abuse):
Degree: Two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes conducting clinical assessments of substance abuse patients; formulating behavioral health treatment plans; and providing professional counseling to substance abuse patients under close supervision. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Licensure/Certification: The Counseling Psychologist position requires applicants to possess a current, active, valid, unrestricted counseling/psychologist license from a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
