Duties

Help

As an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), you will:

  • Drafts policies, procedures, and related standards in accordance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of the Treasury, and other applicable Federal government requirements, guidance, and directives.
  • Conducts reviews to ensure OFR information systems are reviewed and tested annually in accordance with OFR policies and procedures.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements information technology contingency plans and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Develops and maintains extensive current knowledge concerning advances in information technology in general and with particular emphasis on all aspects of systems security and reliability.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized experience for the OR-53 (GS-13 equivalent): An applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the OR-52 (GS-12 equivalent) in the Federal service. The experience may have been gained in either the public or private sectors. Specialized experience for this position is defined as ALL of the following;
- Experience supporting and managing Security Assessment and Authorization (SA&A) activities required for obtaining and maintaining Security Authorization to Operate (ATO) of Office of Financial Research (OFR) information systems; AND
- Experience conducting and reviewing security assessments including continuous monitoring tasks in compliance with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and organizational policies; AND
- Experience developing, reviewing, and updating Information Security (infosec) and privacy policies and procedures; AND
- Experience providing support to Information Systems Security Manager/Information Systems Security Officer (ISSM/ISSOs) as needed in managing information security of their systems.



The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed
below.

  4. Problem Solving: Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

The Office of Financial Research (OFR) is recruiting to fill a key position. We offer both flexible work schedules and an opportunity for challenging and interesting work.
