Duties

Help
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the full complement of activities within a Support Staff function.
  • Manages personnel, unit training and administrative programs management as well as continuous improvement initiatives within the Support Staff function.
  • Keeps abreast of and briefs the Support Staff regarding assigned program status; actual or potential problems and changes which could possibly affect the operation.
  • Recommends redirection of assets if necessary to achieve improved overall mission effectiveness.
  • Develops internal policies and procedures governing administration of programs to include officer/enlisted promotions and demotions to include the reserve service commitments.
  • Develops internal policies and procedures governing administration of programs to include officer/enlisted promotions and demotions to include inbound assignments/in processing.
  • Develops internal policies and procedures governing administration of programs to include officer/enlisted promotions and demotions to include officer/enlisted performance reports, awards and decorations.
  • Manages administrative discharge and separation actions.
  • Manages and provides guidance and technical expertise of various special programs to include Line of Duty, civilian appraisals and civilian timecards.
  • Coordinates with their respective Force Support Squadron on matters related to Support Staff manning, training, and related issues.
  • Provides advisory support services as they pertain to assigned programs or activities.
  • Identifies requirements and initiates requests for additional resources including personnel, overtime, equipment, supplies, and space to ensure success in meeting goals and objectives.
  • Reviews organization mission, functions, and manning.
  • Provides advice to supervisor on significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment.
  • Plans, organizes and executes Support Staff information management and personnel activities.
  • Oversees the preparation, maintenance, and disposition of required administrative reports and other correspondence.
  • Oversees workflow and Task Management Tool (TMT) and assigns work section TMT tasks and balances task workload.
  • Manages personnel resource requirements and compiles personnel and manpower transactions according to the specific, established requirements of each case.
  • Exercises limited supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or termination.
  • Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Advanced in hire rate may be granted to set pay above the minimum rate of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualifications relevant to the positions' requirements and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission.
  • Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualifications essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position.
  • The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly relate to the position to which appointed and such qualifications are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • United States Citizenship is required.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Appointments of retired members of the Armed Forces as National Guard employees within 180 days of retirement requires a waiver approved by the Adjutant General of Missouri before an effective date can be established.

Qualifications

GS-09 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector which demonstrates your ability to plan, organize, and oversee a full complement of activities within a support staff function; manage personnel, unit training and administrative programs management as well as continuous improvement initiatives; develop internal policies and procedures governing administration; plan, organize and execute information management and personnel activities; oversee the preparation, maintenance, and disposition of required administrative reports and other correspondence; manage training programs for administration and personnel in accordance with established command guidelines; and prepares training outlines and lesson plans.

Education

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
