This position is located in the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department in the Navy Region Southwest. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the total golf course maintenance operation, which includes golf course, greens, driving range, surrounding grounds as well as administration duties such as planning, budgeting, staffing, renovation, alteration, landscaping and equipment.

Four years of experience related to golf course maintenance.
Knowledge of golf course maintenance principles and practices.
Extensive knowledge of the game of golf.
Knowledge of the available types and varieties of turf grass.
Knowledge of the complexities and interrelationships of soils, fertilizers, irrigation, drainage, insects, insecticides, turf diseases, fungicides, weeds, herbicides, tools and equipment ranging from hand tools to complex hydraulically-operated fairway mowing units.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Ability to plan, assign, train and supervise personnel.
Knowledge of proper application of pesticides, possess or be able to obtain Applicators Pesticide Certificate within 6 months from date of employment.
Knowledge of budget preparation and or financial management.
Knowledge of irrigation systems.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
College level studies in horticulture, park management, turf culture and related subjects are desirable but not required.
