This vacancy announcement is for a Dual-Status Technician position which requires active membership in the New Jersey National Guard (uniformed military service). Official appointment is not effective until membership within the New Jersey National Guard is confirmed by the gaining Human Resources Office.

Duties

Help

As an NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTER, WG-3705-10, you will:

  • Determines test method, and prepares fluids and parts for nondestructive inspection.
  • Performs nondestructive inspection on structures, components, and systems.
  • Applies magnetic particle and/or liquid penetrant inspection to detect and interpret the relevancy of flaws in a variety of parts.
  • Uses and maintains tools.
  • Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Maintains records and documents actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Employment Requirements:

-Participation in direct deposit is mandatory

-May be required to successfully complete a probationary period

Min: Sra/E-4 and Max: SSgt/E-5

Qualifications

General Experience:
Must have the following experience(s):

  • Experience or training which demonstrates the ability to set up and operate test equipment
  • Use test apparatus to apply tests to material or products, record readings, observe and record established reactions, and classify according to defined categories.
Specialized Experience:
Must have the following experience(s):
  • Experience or training in using ultrasonic and/or eddy current inspection techniques to observe, measure, and detect discontinuities and flaws.
  • Classifying test results, identifying material deficiencies, and recommending courses of action for items of equipment
  • Recommending engine components to be inspected and forwarding results to the appropriate authority.
  • Performing scheduled inspections of testing equipment ensuring compliance with established technical regulations and procedures.

Must be able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance within 1(One) Year of appointment.
