Duties

Help
  • In a Snack Bar, prepares a limited variety of short order fast food items such as hamburgers, hot dogs, fish and chicken sandwiches, pizzas, french fries, etc.
  • Accepts food orders from patrons and serves beverages. Spot checks guest checks to ensure that the information recorded is correct.
  • Serves as cashier in the snack bar, receiving payment by cash or charge. Completes cash report at the end of assigned shift. Follows all safety, security, and good housekeeping rules.
  • Ensures that tables/work surfaces are promptly cleared and cleaned. Cleans other work areas to include walls, floors, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
  • A pre-employment occupational physical is required for this position.
  • Incumbent must be willing and able to work weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty, as well as irregular duties or when needed for special events and related requirements.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Light to heavy physical effort is required. Frequently lifts and moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds, occasionally lifting and carrying up to 45 pounds.
  • There are requirements to walk, stoop, bend, pull, push, and reach, frequently and to stand for long periods of time. May be required to work on ladders and use power cleaning equipment.
  • May be exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces and extreme temperature changes when entering walk in refrigerators or freezing units. There is a danger of slipping on a floor where food or beverages have been spilled.
  • Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
  • Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages is missing from COE as per PD.

Qualification Requirements:

Experience or training that indicates sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of this position consistent with acceptable practices of the trade including but not limited to the following:

1. Must meet state/local age requirements at the time of appointment if serving alcoholic beverages.
2. Ability to work without more than normal supervision.
3. Must be able to keep things neat, clean and in order.
4. Possess basic food preparation and handling techniques.
5. Possess the ability to interpret verbal and written instructions.
6. Knowledgeable of basic sanitation principles.
7. Possess the ability to use and maintain kitchen tools and equipment.
8. Able to lift and move objects up to 40 pounds and frequency walk, bend, stoop, pull, push and reach.

Area of Consideration:

  • The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is commuting area (50 miles) of the Presidio of Monterey. Commuting area is defined as Monterey County, Santa Cruz County, San Benito County California. PCS Costs
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
FWS Allowances and Differentials
  • This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position.
  • All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee.
Incentives and Bonuses
  • Incentives will not be paid.
Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances
  • Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
