Duties

Help

  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment
  • Recognize and report abnormal cardiac rhythms
  • Provide direct patient care including vital signs and phlebotomy
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Ensure proper telemetry equipment function and maintenance
  • Perform emergency response actions when needed
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff and patients
  • Document patient data accurately and timely

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements, both the Individual Occupational Requirement (IOR) and the Grade Level Qualification Requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.

Individual Occupational Requirement:

  • Specialized Experience: Technician experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR,
  • Education and Training: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position.
Grade Level Requirements:

GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to knowledge of a wide range of cardiac arrhythmias, effects on patients and treatment options while using telemetry equipment, including transmitters, central monitoring station, lead placement, patient prep and printers, trouble-shooting equipment when issues occur; using automated systems for documentation and patient charting; AND utilizing customer service skills when serving patients with varying mental behaviors, patient families and medical center personnel.

There is no educational substitution for the GS-06 level.
