Duties

Help
  • You will perform sampling of potential health hazardous exposures to chemical, physical, and biological stressors
  • You will enter data into online database of Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System .
  • You will operate and calibrate industrial hygiene instrumentation including sound analysis equipment, air sampling pumps and direct reading analytical equipment
  • You will interpret test results to detect violations of published health hazards.
  • You will calculate airflow rate, patterns and pressure differentials.
  • You will use industrial hygiene concepts, practices and principles to design and perform industrial hygiene surveys and follow all codes and directives.
  • You will identify and quantify occupational hazards found in the workplace with result from exposure to chemical, physical, and biological stresses.
  • You will ensure safe and healthy work environment for all personnel.

Qualifications

GS07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  • Experience planning, managing, and performing sampling of potential health hazardous exposures to chemical, physical and biological stressors;
  • Experience researching background documents, survey notes, and environmental sampling results to prepare technical reports and data entry into Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System or similar online database;
  • Experience calibrating industrial hygiene instrumentation, performing minor repairs, and annual inventory for sound analysis equipment, air sampling pumps and direct reading analytical equipment;
  • Experience utilizing various industrial hygiene evaluations and surveys to detect violations of published health hazards;
OR- One full year of graduate education directly related to the work of the position meets the requirements for GS-7.
OR- Combination of graduate education and specialized experience that equates to 100% of the requirement.


GS06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience measuring airflow differences to assist in evaluating exposure control measures for exhaust ventilations systems, fire ranges, operating rooms, etc.
  • Experience maintaining assigned industrial hygiene instrumentation and upkeeping equipment inventories.
  • Experience assisting with detailed reviews of surveys, exposure monitoring data, and evaluation of workplaces for occupational health hazards.
