Duties

Help
  • Conduct daily Hospital Housekeeping Quality Assurance inspections.
  • Perform Document Destruction responsibilities.
  • Adhere to regulated Medical Waste input/policies and procedures, Transportation dispatch requirements and annotation, and Laundry and Linen policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the Supervisor and rater of multiple GS and WG Federal employees and coordinator of several contracted staff during the normal duty day.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A pre-employment physical is required.
  • Must possess and maintain an unrestricted valid stateside driver's license.
  • Required to travel by government vehicle in performance of duties.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a certification to sign for the Regulated Medical Waste shipments within the first twelve months being hired.
  • Incumbent is subject to call at all times to effect needed repairs or to render assistance in emergency matters.
  • This position may require 24/7 on-call duty.
  • This position requires screening for required immunizations and for evidence of tuberculosis.
  • This position may require rotating shift work, to include evenings, nights, overtime, weekends and holidays.
  • May require use of an electronic pager or cellular telephone.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government driver’s license to operate military vehicles.
  • Must successfully complete a Contracting Officer’s Representative course within 30 days of employment.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station up to 10% of the duty time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: hospital housekeeping services and cleanliness requirements; contractual performance requirements related to service contract quality problems; preparing deficiency reports; and/or regulatory requirements for hospital medical waste/medical waste disposal procedures (collection, transportation, destruction requirements).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, in an accredited college or university which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position; Public Health or Business Administration with emphasis in Hospital Administration. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
