Duties

Help

Performs work that involves planning and coordinating the installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance of hardware or software systems using standard principles, theories, concepts and methods for systems administration. Implements security plans, policies, and preventive maintenance schedules. Utilizes diagnostic tools and techniques to verify operability, optimize the functionality of networks and/or systems, and to diagnose/recover failed systems. Carries out routine maintenance, upgrade, and support of hardware, operating systems, and/or applications software. Provides ongoing optimization and problem solving support to minimize interruptions in customers' ability to carry out critical business activities. Manages network rights and access to systems and equipment. Interprets and applies information security and information assurance policy, principles, and practices in the delivery of systems administration services. Prepares and presents reports and briefings to technical staff.

  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain (within 6 months) certifications or training in accordance with DoD Manual 8140.03 Cybersecurity Workforce Qualification and Management Program and assigned Defense Cyber Workforce Role (DCFW).
  • Must be available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Social Security Card must be verified upon selection.
  • Failure to provide all of the required information by the closing date as stated on the vacancy announcement may result in an ineligible rating or may affect the overall rating.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3 to include a Tier 3 investigation.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • Korea-Wide Only. Applicants who live outside of Korea WILL NOT be considered. U.S. citizens overseas under ordinary resident status (i.e "F" types of visa) are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA).
  • One year probationary period is required.
  • Must possess or obtain (within 6 months of employment) a training certificate for the most current applicable Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) Server.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE CLEARLY VERIFIABLE IN YOUR RESUME. GOVERNMENT POSITIONS MUST INCLUDE PAY PLAN, SERIES, GRADE, TO AND FROM DATES, AND GOVERNMENT AGENCY/DEPARTMENT. All qualification requirements must include experience performing duties equivalent in scope and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Specialized IT experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training or IT certification which demonstrates skill in applying: Principles and methods for integrating information systems components; Performance tuning tools and techniques; System diagnostic tool and fault identification techniques; Systems administration methods; and IT security principles.
OR,
Completion of a master's degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree in computer science/engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours as indicated above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

In addition, candidates must demonstrate IT-related experience which addresses the following four competencies:

1. Attention to detail - Such as implementing quality control procedures and conducting compliance reviews.
2. Customer service - Such as providing assistance to both internal and external customers; assessing customers' needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
3. Verbal communication - Such as conducting formal presentations or training to audiences at varying levels of hierarchy and technical expertise.
4. Demonstrated problem-solving skills - Such as identifying the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

Education

Preferred: Bachelor's degree with a major study (minimum of twenty -four (24) semester hours) in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.
