Duties

Help
  • You will be responsible for reviewing forms, documentation and other related information to determine eligibility for enrollment and issuance of ID cards includes Common Access Card and other ID cards as applicable.
  • You will determine eligibility for TRICARE, TRICARE for life, and Medicare for personnel, retirees, and family members.
  • You will be responsible for answering telephonic inquiries pertaining to operational matters such as enrollment and its effect on benefits.
  • You will safeguard the workstation for unauthorized transmission of data and tampering.
  • You will review forms, documentation, and other related information to determine eligibility for the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System (DEERS) enrollment and issuance of ID cards.
  • You will greet and advise customers of corrective actions and alternative actions that must be met to obtain an ID card.
  • You will interview personnel to obtain data needed to complete actions or obtain data from previously completed files and records and reconfirms accuracy of such records.
  • You will approve, verify, and is responsible for the accuracy and accountability of all ID cards within possession.
  • You will operate automated systems to input data and retrieve data from the Real-time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) which controls the medical coverage database for DEERS.
  • You will retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports or briefings.
  • You will perform suspension of privileges if necessary.
  • You will dispose of personnel files in accordance with records management policy.
  • You will review employment forms to verify employee benefits and entitlements.
  • You will report suspected or actual security violations or practices that may be detrimental to the site.
  • You will research and/or provide information regarding a variety of rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements to provide explanations of actions taken or recommended.
  • You will draft or prepare related correspondence for appropriate signature.
  • You will be responsible for inputting information using word-processing software, databases, and other automated programs.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring essential operating supplies are maintained and ensure proper functioning of all equipment.
  • You will perform a wide variety of duties such as record keeping, updating manuals on policy and directives, and managing files in support of the organization's programs, functions, and projects.
  • You will perform and tracks Beta tests on new card stocks and upcoming software, and must keep test logs and report results to higher authority.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing a wide variety of procedural and substantive administrative duties. Examples of Qualifying Experience: Reviewing and validating documentation and records for accuracy and eligibility determination, Maintaining vigilance while implementing security measures; AND directing customers on procedures for obtaining identification.

This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
