Duties

Help

If you are selected for this position, you will perform the following duties:
  • Reviewing the processes for the procurement, storage, inventory and disposal of the Department's materials and supplies and recommending process enhancements for greater process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Processing and reconciling recall notices.
  • Receiving and distributing investigational drugs.
  • Maintaining proper inventory control in an inventory management system by entering received goods and stock requisitions into the inventory system.
  • Coordinating delivery of new equipment and surplus of equipment.
  • Reviewing and approving Purchasing and Online Tracking System (POTS) requests, determining if any can be combined; and completing the requisition.
  • Completing purchase card transaction reconciliation.
If you are selected at the GS-07 level, you will essentially perform the same duties as those at the full performance level described above, however, duties are less complex and will be performed under closer supervisor with more detailed guidance.

  • The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, crouching, bending, standing, stooping, stretching, or walking such in performing work and includes frequent lifting or moderately heavy items weighing less than 50 pounds.
  • In addition, the use of a pallet jack and pushing/pulling of carts in excess of 200 pounds is routinely required.
  • The work is performed in a clinical environment.
  • Work involves moderate risks and discomforts associated with exposure to chemical solutions, toxic agents, or irritant chemicals. Special safety precautions and protective gear and clothing may be required in clinical areas.
  • If selected, you must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.

Qualifications

You qualify at the GS-07 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

A. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have completed one full year of graduate level education.

B. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I meet one of the requirements for superior academic based on a) graduating within the upper third of the graduating class in a college, university, or major subdivision such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; b) having a grade point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR c) being elected for membership in a national scholastic honor society.

C. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: participating in the supply inventory process and conducting investigations to determine the cause of inventory discrepancies by checking property records; compiling information related to the loss, damage, or destruction of property; creating and maintaining property records; ordering medications, and processing recalls.

D. I qualify for this position at the GS-07 level because I have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

You qualify at the GS-09 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

A. I qualify for this position at the GS-09 level because I have completed a Master's or equivalent graduate level degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or an LL.B. or J.D., if related.

B. I qualify for this position at the GS-09 level because I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: providing supply management and control for activities involving specialized pharmaceutical supplies and equipment; coordinating physical inventories of pharmaceutical property and supplies; analyzing property reports to prevent and reduce supply losses; developing data and information to be used in inventory reports; and ordering medications and processing recalls.

C. I qualify for this position at the GS-09 level because I have a combination of post baccalaureate education and experience that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
