This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Payment and Print Solutions Division. As a Lead Peripheral Equipment Operator, you will be an expert on the equipment used by the Peripheral Equipment Operators and directly responsible for ensuring the Bureau's mission of issuing payments is completed timely and accurately.

Duties

Help

As a Lead Peripheral Equipment Operator, you will:

  • Communicate the Branch's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values to the team. The Lead incorporates these into the daily work plans and goals. The incumbent communicates assignments, projects, and problems to be solved, actionable events, milestones, program issues under review, and deadlines and timeframes for work completion.
  • Guide the team in the selection and application of appropriate problem solving methods and techniques; advise on work methods, practices and procedures; and assist in identifying the parameters of a viable solution. Lead the team in identifying, distributing, and balancing workload and tasks to team members in accordance with established workflow and or skill level. Make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities.
  • Prepare reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information, as required by the supervisor. Make available to the team policies, procedures, and written instructions from the supervisor. Represent the team consensus and convey their findings and recommendations.
  • Identify supplies and materials required to create, print, inspect, insert, enclose, sort, stage, and mail payments. Participate in production planning and provide input to production goals, associated quality controls and overall processing schedules for daily, weekly, monthly, seasonal and special payments.
  • Perform quality control measures affecting the availability and reliability of printing, inserting and enclosing systems, including hardware, software and vendor maintenance and repair services. Evaluate production requirements and analyze historical productivity data from previous payment cycles.

  • Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.

  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.

Specialized experience: For the GS-05, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes performing or leading operations/tasks to produce acceptable products or services in a timely manner.

Examples of such experience could include:
- Communicating assignments and guidance for work; OR
- Assisting with problem solving and issue resolution; OR
- Reviewing work for completeness, compliance with established guidelines, and quality assurance; OR
- Utilizing computer software and systems for data entry and reports.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years of study above high school from an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college or university;
OR
You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.
