Duties

Help

As an Executive Assistant, you will:

-Perform specialized duties with continuing responsibility for processes, projects, questions and problems within the Office of the senior leadership for CIR. The incumbent is skilled in handling a wide range of administrative and executive support related tasks.

-Plan and carry out recurring program activities; identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems or issues; and evaluate and advise on the organization, methods, and procedures for providing executive administrative support systems such as records management, communications, directives, forms, files, and documentation.

-Develop, analyze and make recommendations to improve the effectiveness of administrative work methods and procedures, including distribution of work assignments, delegations of authority, management controls, information and documentation systems, and similar functions of management within the Office of the senior leadership for CIR.

-Gather and develop data, identify issues, compile and analyze findings and develop recommendations; respond to inquiries and administrative problems brought to senior leadership; serve as a buffer by providing accurate, timely advice on procedures, reports, requirements, and other matters necessary to implement policies, directives, and instructions.

-Assist with high level duties in connection with a wide variety of Congressional inquiries directed to senior leadership originating by phone or letter e-mail.

The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, District of Columbia. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

-Interpreting and analyzing office administrative operations and policies and recommending changes to improve effectiveness and consistency of administrative operations; AND

-Coordinating and planning administrative functions such as troubleshooting office support issues, scheduling meetings and conferences, controlling correspondence, and appointment calendars for management; AND

-Researching and interpreting information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-11 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:

-Coordinating and planning administrative functions such as troubleshooting office support issues, scheduling meetings and conferences, controlling correspondence, and appointment calendars for management; AND

-Researching and interpreting information needed to prepare reports, and to respond to requests for information.

OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or an LL.M., in a related field

OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. A combination of education and experience. Only graduate level education in excess of 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours), may be used to combine education and experience.

Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

Education

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. If you are qualifying based on foreign education, you must submit proof of creditability of education as evaluated by a credentialing agency. Refer to the OPM instructions.
