The NCNR is seeking a dedicated and skilled trainer to join our team and play a key role in developing and delivering training programs for our staff. The trainer will be responsible for equipping our workforce with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to excel in the role. This position is crucial in ensuring that our staff are well-prepared and continually improving in their performance. Major Duties include:

Training Delivery:
-Contribute to the development of training sessions for staff.
-Ensure that training sessions are informative, interactive, and aligned with the learning objectives.
-Contribute to training methods and content to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
Continuous Improvement:
-Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and new training techniques.
-Continually contribute to the update and enhance training materials and resources to maintain their relevance and effectiveness.

Documentation and Reporting:
-Maintain accurate records of training activities, attendance, and outcomes.
-Generate reports on training effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.

Mentorship and Support:
-Provide guidance and support to new staff during their onboarding process.
-Offer ongoing support to trainees as they apply their new skills on the job.
Operational Assistance:
-Achieve and maintain an NRC Senior Reactor Operators license.
-Assist Operations and perform licensed duties as necessary.

Training Program Development:
-Collaborate with management and Training Program Manager to identify training needs and objectives.
-Monitor and evaluate the progress of trainees during and after training sessions.
-Suggest necessary adjustments to training programs based on feedback and performance data.
-Utilize a variety of training methodologies, including classroom training, e-learning, on-the-job training, and workshops.

Qualifications

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY, ALL APPLICANTS MUST POSSESS: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 (ZA-II at NIST) level. Specialized experience is defined as experience assisting in the development and implementation of a nuclear training program in accordance with ANSI/ANs 15.4 guidelines and reactor theory principles or equivalent. Experience with nuclear reactor operations to apply specific operating and maintenance procedures, interpreting and applying guidelines and requirements of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to obtain the license that the operators must be to operate the reactor for reactor operator licensing and maintain compliance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
