Help

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Perform general secretarial and administrative support activities for the organization, such as correspondence, mail, time and attendance, travel arrangements, filing, data entry, calendar management, supplies, room reservations, conference arrangements.
  • Finalize correspondence drafts provided by staff including review for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Prepare final document in compliance with precedural requirements, assembles necessary materials, and ensures delivery of correspondence.
  • Respond to requests for action, inquiries and questions that originate both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Compose replies to general inquires such as establishing or confirming appointments, arranging meetings or conferences, and providing contact information.
  • Use word processing software to produce a range of specialized documents that require complex formats, specialized terminology and incorporate text, tables, and/or graphs.

Qualifications

In order to be rated as qualified for this position, the HR Office must be able to determine that you meet the specialized experience requirement - this information must be clearly supported in the resume.

To qualify at the GS-06, Applicants must possess one-year specialized experience at the GS-5 level. Specialized experience must include at least three (3) of the following:

1. Administrative and clerical support activities such as calendar management, mail distribution, filling, data entry, etc.;
2. Operating computer software packages such as Microsoft Suite;
3. Making travel and lodging arrangements;
4. Review time and attendance for accuracy;
5. Tracking and monitoring action items;
6. Prepares correspondence in an automated system;
7. Reviews and edits documents for clarity, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and required formats.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-In-Grade: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower-grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

You must meet all Eligibility and Qualification requirements, including time-in-grade restrictions and any selective placement factors if applicable, by 10/09/2024.

This position does not allow substituting education for experience.

Category rating and selection procedures will be used to evaluate applications from this announcement.
