Duties

At the full performance level, major duties include:

  • Develops and maintains expertise in data related to banking and depositor and consumer protection, including the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Survey of Consumer Finances, call reports, summary of deposits, or other data.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of databases, usually large and complex, used by DCP to conduct complex analyses or support examinations and supervisory initiatives.
  • Functions as an analyst, and is responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing analysis for assigned projects on depositor and consumer protection projects or topics.
  • Gathers, analyzes, and presents financial and other information pertaining to depositor and consumer protection projects or topics related to depositor and consumer protection.
  • Develops and maintains expertise in efficient programming practices in languages and statistical packages, such as SAS, STATA, R, Matlab, SQL, and Python.
  • Communicates, orally or in writing, analytical results to the management and professional staff of the Branch or Division.
  • Constructs visual materials that convey technical information to general audiences.
  • Represents the Branch in meetings with other DCP offices.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-12: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 11 grade level or above in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience writing computer code to conduct data analysis using data analysis software packages (e.g., Python, R, SAS, STATA, or similar package); and providing analysis results.

CG-13: To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 12 grade level or above in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as experience writing computer code to conduct data analysis using data analysis software packages (e.g., Python, R, SAS,  STATA, similar package); and writing reports presenting analysis results.

  1. Knowledge of economic research or depositor and consumer protection (fair lending and UDAP) examination analytics techniques.
  2. Ability to use software such as spreadsheets, statistical analytics, database management, report writing, or graphical presentation applications to compile and provide information for analytical decisions and public dissemination.
  3. Ability to apply financial, statistical, and mathematical methodologies (such as financial modeling, statistical analysis and simulation techniques) to illustrate and support conclusions related to depositor and consumer protection topics and projects.
  4. Ability to use analytic software and programming languages (such as SAS, STATA, R, Matlab, SQL, and Python) to prepare data for analysis, conduct statistical calculations, review validity of results and extract relevant findings.
  5. Ability to develop and present oral reports and presentations to relate findings and recommendations.
  6. Ability to develop and present written reports and presentations to relate findings and recommendations.
