Duties

Help

  • Performs selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of the Management/Program Analysis field of work.
  • Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects.
  • Provides assistance in planning, monitoring and conducting special studies, projects and initiatives.
  • Studies Air Force requirements for the projects and researches and studies the current body of precedents and technical knowledges.

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying accredited institution
  • Must sign a Participant Agreement
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island) to convert out of the Pathways program into a Permanent position
  • Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
  • Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
  • You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university or accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
  • Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
  • Pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree (Junior/Senior only), Graduate or Professional Degree
  • Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
  • Have a good academic standing (no less than 2.95 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale)
  • Meet the qualification standards of the position
  • Non-citizens may be eligible for employment if Permitted by the DoD Appropriation Act
  • Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
  • May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties
  • This position may require travel, work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Internship Program
  • This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection
  • The duty location for this position is Tinker AFB, however, this position is eligible for telework flexibilities. Telework options can be negotiated and implemented after entrance on duty

Qualifications

Interns may be non-competitively converted to a term, career-conditional or career appointment within 180 days following successful completion of all of their educational and work experience requirements in accordance with 5 CFR 362.204.

You MUST have one or more identified eligibilities in order to be considered. Eligibility claims must be supported with required documentation submitted within each application package to be considered. Transfer and Reinstatement eligibles must provide their most current SF-50 reflecting the highest grade held. **Air Force is not responsible for erroneous eligibilities you list or fail to list**

PATHWAYS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: Some positions require a specific degree or coursework such as supply chain management, business management, contract specialists, financial management, etc.; interns appointed to these positions are required to be graduated from or enrolled in a directly related degree program/curriculum in accordance with their participant agreement.

CURRENT STUDENTS: At the time of application, Student Interns are required TO BE ENROLLED or HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED for enrollment and seeking a degree, diploma or certificate in a qualifying educational institution on a FULL OR HALF-TIME basis.

NOTE: Copies of your transcripts and a current proof of enrollment letter are required at the time of application to be considered for this program. The enrollment letter can be obtained from your school. All certificates and official transcripts will be required at the time of selection.

Job requirements as a Student Intern:
Sign a Participant Agreement
Attend school while working at Tinker AFB·
Work part-time or full-time while attending school (20 hour minimum work week)
Commute daily to work at Tinker AFB·
Complete 480 hours of OJT while attending school.

To be eligible for conversion, Student Interns must:·
Complete 480 hours of work experience (On-The-Job Training) acquired through the Internship Program
Complete and obtain degree or certificate/licensing requirements
Meet qualification standards for the position to which the Intern will be converted
Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the signed Participant's Agreement Demonstrate successful job performance.

Program Completion and Conversion Requirements: Current Student Interns may be converted to a permanent position, or term position lasting 1-4 years, within 180 days of successful completion of the program.

This position may be subject to promotion potential to the GS-05 level while assigned to the internship program if certain criteria are met as laid out in Participant Agreement

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. In addition to meeting Pathways Internship Program requirements for Current Students, you must be in the process of completing a specific level of education and/or work experience to qualify at the grade levels below. You MUST provide your resume, copies of your transcripts and a School Enrollment Letter to receive consideration for this position. These documents are used to determine your eligibility and qualifications.

To qualify for a GS-04: Completion of two (2) academic years of post-high school study. Two years of study is defined as at least 60 semester hours of post-high school education

OR Graduate with an Associate's Degree with continuing education

OR Current student seeking a degree, license or certificate AND have one (1) year or more of general experience as defined below

OR A combination of education and experience as defined below

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
