Duties

Help
  • Proposes and justifies revision of staffing levels and work priorities.
  • Reviews and approves serious disciplinary actions.
  • Approves expenses, such as extensive overtime, within-grade increases, TDY, etc.
  • Conducts meetings with subordinate supervisors and coordinates with union personnel to ensure the entire workforce conducts itself in harmony and with the objective of meeting the mission as its primary goal.
  • Reviews and evaluates guard functions for the purpose of updating these measures to comply with new security innovations that are feasible for adoption.
  • Reviews standing operating procedures, special and general orders to ensure that they are current.
  • Responsible for promptly keeping the Chief of the Physical Security Division or Director of Emergency Services informed of any incidents at access control points or actions by guard force personnel which would result in public interest.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • Incumbent must participate in regularly scheduled training in the techniques of use of deadly force, counter-terrorism, first aid, firearms, actuating anti-vehicle barriers, search and seizure, security operations.
  • Incumbent must wear prescribed uniform.
  • Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
  • Incumbent will be required to pass entry level and annual re-certification of standard Army physical fitness/agility test.
  • Incumbent may be required to wear chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete CPR certification and First Aid training.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training.
  • Incumbent must undergo and pass periodic medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability.
  • Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
  • Overtime may be required as directed and is subject to recall for periods of emergency overtime.
  • Shift work is required, or a change in work shift may be necessary.
  • Individual agrees to submit to a urinalysis on a recurring basis, in accordance with AR 600-85.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience such as work with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization performing and overseeing that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life; Monitor the behavior of security employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, or procedures; Train security personnel on protective procedures, first aid, fire safety, and other duties. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service(GS-09).

Education
