Duties

Help
  • You will serve as Administrative Specialist for the Division, assist with responsibilities in procurements, personnel, and general administrative tasks.
  • You will help develop and execute administrative improvement plans, tracks critical path, and troubleshoots arising problems with minimal involvement of leadership.
  • You will evaluate ways to automate administrative support systems such as records, communications, directives, forms, files, and documentation.
  • You will utilize the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) to obtain security clearance information for the Division.
  • You will assist with the preparation of travel arrangements; review travel documents (vouchers, compensation time requests, etc.) for accuracy; maintain Division personnel information and signature profile data in Defense Travel System (DTS).
  • You will participate in the Division knowledge management efforts and help develop/manage Flank Speed Division tools to include Teams, Division Leadership Team site, and Division site.
  • You will assist with administering the timekeeping program; ensure personnel have entered time into Navy ERP.
  • You will participate in the analysis and evaluation of existing administrative operational and support processes and procedures within the Division.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assist personnel with submission of travel authorizations and/or vouchers to ensure standardization/quality of travel procedures within the organization. Perform work of a general office support nature which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities to include timekeeping and official travel requirements.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

The following education can be substituted for experience:
4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree

or
3 years General Experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4

or
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience MUST equal one hundred percent.

Additional information

This position is in the Science & Technology Reinvention Laboratory (STRL) Human Resource Management System pay band for Department of Defense laboratories. The pay schedule and pay band for all Administrative Specialist/Professional Positions will be NO-1/2/3/4/5/6.

This position is eligible for part time, substantial or ad-hoc telework at the discretion of management.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
