Duties

Help
  • Repair and program Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) on industrial process control equipment.
  • Troubleshoot Industrial process control systems, such as combustion control systems, continuous emissions monitoring systems, uninterruptable power supplies and numerous digital and analog devices.
  • Interrogate computer-based automation systems to determine operating condition or make repairs.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, or circuit diagrams to troubleshoot malfunctions of complex systems.
  • Use of electronic test instruments, to include Multimeters (voltage/resistance/current), Insulation Resistance Tester (Megger) Clamp Meter, and Oscilloscope, (inductive noise in signal, control or power wiring) to test and diagnose problems.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronic Industrial Control Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Experience includes interrogating computer based automation systems to determine operating condition or make repairs; and troubleshooting industrial process control systems performing programing and re-programming for variable frequency drives. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate physical effort is required. Incumbent handles objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. Extended periods of sitting and frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Position requires frequent climbing and work in high and/or confined places.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, often in inclement weather. Incumbent is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones and serious burns caused by electrical shock, RF energy and hot components.
