Duties

Help
  • Utilizes standard methods and techniques to perform such duties as gathering, researching, and evaluating cost analysis data.
  • Performs engineering/mathematical calculations, compiles statistical data, and conducts statistical tests for the organization.
  • Provides insight and recommends changes to courses of action and/or solutions to problems.
  • Prepares graphical presentations of analytical results and/or reports for projects/programs.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This is an Army Acquisition, Logistics and Technology Workforce position. Selectee must meet position requirements for Business – Cost Estimating certification within 60 months as of entrance on duty.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation may be conducted.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. This is a TERM position not to exceed two years. It is a time limited position and may be extended up to a maximum of six years. After two years, employee may compete for permanent positions. Employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous services under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such a term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent.

Basic Requirement for Operations Research Analyst: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in operations research; or a degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. (You must submit a copy of your transcripts.)
